In 1998, director Hideo Nakata (Dark Water) unleashed a chilling tale of technological terror on unsuspecting audiences, which redefined the horror genre, launched the J-horror boom in the West and introduced a generation of moviegoers to a creepy, dark-haired girl called Sadako. A group of teenage friends are found dead, their bodies grotesquely contorted, their face twisted in terror. Reiko (Nanako Matsushima, When Marnie Was There), a journalist and the aunt of one of the victims, sets out to investigate the shocking phenomenon, and in the process uncovers a creepy unrban legend about a supposedly cursed videotape, the contents of which causes anyone who views it to die within a week - unless they can persuade someone else to watch it, and, in so doing, pass on the curse...

Never saw any movie from this series before buying. Can say that the first one is excellent but the rest were not great for me. As always presentation was flawless and there are lots of special features so I would recommend for fans but non fans maybe buy just the first one and see.

ring trilogy
After watching Hollywood version of this trilogy which I thought at the time was well done, but there was something really missing to make it very good at that time I hadn't heard of the original version so started think where did Hollywood get the idea from to my shock and horror that's when I found out about the the real version of the Hollywood remake which it seems nobody wanted to really know about, Oh how wrong they were the version is by far a whole lot better as total atmosphere of this Japanese version is in a different league altogether if you haven't seen this version then you are really missing out on how Hollywood should have done their remake because this version is so much better in every way possible.**************** all the way better even with subtitles in English even they make this set a better version than the Hollywood version.

Another winner from Arrow
Again...this boxset goes the distance! It looks beautiful, as does the content on the discs. Haven't watched all the special features yet, but the ones I have seen are insightful and interesting. The main attraction here though is the "lost sequel" that is included as kind of a bonus 4th movie in the set. Not perhaps the best, but a must-watch for fans!
