The film is bizzare

Not one of masumuras better films. Good presentation by arrow otherwise.

Ayako Wakao helms the war film the west will never make!

Red Angel tells the story of nurse Nishi Sakura, played by the legendary Ayako Wakoa, who works in the field hospitals during World War 2. A simple premise, but the film showcases the harrowing experiences these nurses went through, the twisted desires of broken soldiers desperate for human contact and the ultimate price paid by all. Not for the feint hearted, the film doesn't shy away from the brutality of conflict. Showing in full graphic detail what man can do to one-another in times of war. This release by Arrow is absolutely beautiful to behold. The black and white colour palette is outstanding, and the special features, as always, are interesting and very welcome. But, the true reason to own this movie is Ayako Wakao. Japanese film fans will likely know the name, but in Red Angel, she is beyond fantastic. Some of the finest acting I have ever witnessed, she alone makes this a must buy.

Masterpiece

This is most likely the greatest anti war movie you'll ever see! There's no words how raw and gritty this is and yet so beautiful. Arrows release is also impeccable, so just buy it and enjoy!
