Today's a good day to die
Somebody applies a defibrilator to a body
- Flatline. - 30 seconds to go.
A man walks down a tunnel.
- Can you recall any specific emotion or sensation? - No, but there's something out there.
People use shock paddles to bring a body back to life
- We're running out of time! - 300, clear! Nothing...
- You're hot go again! - Clear.
Another shock with the paddles.
- Nothing, I can't hear anything. - Come on Nelson breathe! - We lost him!
A man is falling and screaming then fade to black
Welcome back man
A group sitting at a bar table
I'm going next. - Two minutes. - Two ten.
A woman is shocked with the paddles.
Was there anything negative about your experience?
This is too weird, we've experienced death!
Now somehow we brought our sins back physically. They're pissed.
A woman slaps a man hard in the face then another man appears laughing maniacally.
That is not hallucination and that is not possible
Oh my god!
You withheld information that's the same as lying
- You wouldn't have done it. - At least we would have had a choice!
You're not real
A woman laughs
Hey come on, they're your sins live with them. I do.
No!

SOME LINES SHOULDN'T BE CROSSED.
Known for his impressively eclectic filmography and for helping to launch the careers of several young Hollywood stars of the 80s and 90s, Joel Schumacher (The Lost Boys, St. Elmo's Fire) tackles the existential question that, at one time or another, haunts us all: what awaits us after we die?
At the University Hospital School of Medicine, five ambitious students subject themselves to a daring experiment: to temporarily induce their own deaths, hoping to glimpse the afterlife before being brought back to life. But as competition within the group intensifies and their visions of the world beyond increasingly bleed into their waking lives, they're about to learn that the greatest threat comes not from the spirit world but from the long-suppressed secrets of their own pasts...
Stylishly photographed by Jan de Bont (Basic Instinct) and featuring a cast of Hollywood's hottest talent - including Kiefer Sutherland (Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me), Julia Roberts (Secret in their Eyes) and Kevin Bacon (Wild Things) - Flatliners is the ultimate life-and-death thrill ride.

The movie remains definitely a product of its time, for better or worse, but the 4K disc is really glorious ! Up there with the best this format has produced.

It’s soooo 90s
Kieffer Sutherland, Julia Roberts, Kevin Bacon and a Baldwin! Could this film be anymore 1990s? The answer is no, it can not. It even debuted at #1 at the box office with a whopping 10 million dollar opening weekend which shows you how much has changed in the last 30 years. I’m glad Arrow is putting this out because I haven’t seen it since it’s release when I was an impressionable teenager and I look forward to seeing if the effects and the “science” of the film holds up because we know the haircuts won’t. What I do remeber of the film is that it’s an awesome thrill ride which also takes a long look at the price of ambition, medical ethics, and the fact that we might be through with the past but the past ain’t through with us.
