[Daytime. A New Zealand landscape of green trees with a dirty track road through them. A white car drives down the road.]
[Nicky, a bearded man in his 30s, wears hiking gear and a rucksack. He is in a bush known as Loop Track. Ian, another man in his 30s, wears amateurish hiking gear and appears nervous and uncomfortable.] Nicky: Big on hiking? Ian: Yeah.
Nicky: I'm Nicky, by the way. Ian: Uh... nice to meet you.
[The two men reach a waterfall and celebrate.] Nicky: He-he-hey! We made it.
[Evening. A wooden cabin, a hut where hikers rest for the night, has the lights on.]
[Austin, a Black man, and his wife Monica, a blonde white woman, are inside the hut.] Nicky: This is Monica. This is Austin. They're from Australia.
[Daytime. Ian, Austin and Monica rest by a lake, while Nicky tries to catch fish with his bare hands.]
Austin: It's so quiet here. Monica: Ian, are you alright? [All are getting ready to continue hiking.]
[Ian walks between tall and thin tree trunks as he looks over his shoulder suspiciously.] Ian: Do you ever feel like you're being watched?
Nicky: By the government? Ian: No. By something in the trees.
[In a hut, at night, Ian flicks through photos on a digital camera.] Austin: What are you looking for?
[Nighttime. Ian is in the bush and hears a strange distant chittering. It grows closer and Ian runs between the trees.]
[A caption reads, "DARK SKY FILMS".]
[In a dark clearing in the Loop Track bush, Austin, Monica, Nicky look confused as they talk to Ian, who is holding a torch.] Ian: Did you see it? Austin: See what?
Ian: The thing that was chasing me.

[In a hut, Monica talks to Ian.] Monica: Things can seem, like, way bigger than they actually are.

[Ian warns Nicky as he's about to step into a goat trap.] Ian: Hey, watch out!
[Ian finds traces of blood on a tree trunk.]
[Austin talks to Ian inside a hut.] Austin: Sometimes they're not even there, maybe.

[Ian sees the shadows of a creature circling the outside of the hut. It chitters and thumps the hut's door.]
[Ian gets up and stands by the door as the creature continues to thump it from the outside.]
[Silence. Then a flash of the door being burst open.]
[A caption reads, "UNKNOWN".]
[Daytime in the bush, Monica and Austin talk to Ian, who is shaking and crying.] Ian: I know you think I'm crazy.
[Austin punches Ian.]
[A caption reads, "UNSEEN".]
[In the bush, Ian looks up as he finds the body of a girl hanging in a tree branch.] Ian: He killed these girls.
[Flash shots of the creature's foot.]

Highly anxious Ian Thompson (Sainsbury) sets off on a solo trek in the New Zealand bush for some respite from the stress of everyday life. His plans for uninterrupted solitude are scuppered however, when he encounters Nicky (Hayden J Weal) and other hikers, only exacerbating his paranoia. As Ian's grip on reality weakens, he becomes convinced they are being followed. Miles from civilisation, their journey turns into a fight for survival as Ian's fears manifest into a surreal battle against an unseen threat lurking in the wilderness. Is it all just in his head? Or is someone, or something, really out there?
