A Feast for the Eyes!

I'm not going to write a whole review, I'd just like to highlight a couple of things. First, the picture is excellent, best I've seen, and I first saw this in the eighties on grainy VHS. The lighting is extraordinary, and that's quite a statement for a Bava film. Scenes during the daytime are well-lit, a little flat, almost tv lighting, but the night scenes; pastel purples, vivid reds, bright blues... where's it coming from? Does all of Italy have stained glass windows and 10,000 watt street lighting? Who knows? Who cares?! And secondly, there's an episode of David Del Valle's 'Sinister Image' on the disc, with David talking to the star of the show, Cameron Mitchell. I've only seen a few of these, it was a public access show (late eighties, I think?) but David Del Valle is one of the most engaging interviewers I've ever seen. Extremely knowledgeable about the subject and genuinely interested in the people he's talking to. If you see his name on an audio commentary, listen to it! Especially when he tag teams with Fred Olen Ray, although the ever reliable Troy Howarth is on microphone duty for this one. Can we get 'Sinister Image' a decent release, I wonder?
