HIS MIND IS HER PRISON
Sublime, grotesque and visually ravishing, Tarsem Singh's debut feature delivers on the extraordinary artistry of his work in music video and commercials as it takes the audience on a journey through the bizarre worlds inside the mind of a killer.
When serial murderer Carl Stargher (Vincent D'Onofrio) falls into a coma with his latest victim still trapped in an unknown location and waiting to die, the FBI turn to psychologist Catherine Deane (Jennifer Lopez) for help. Using an experimental technology she enters the dark dreamscape of Stargher's mind, attempting to learn his secrets before it's too late. But his unconscious is a twisted nightmare, a labyrinth that threatens to trap her inside his terrifying world forever. To save a life, she'll have to risk her own.
With a script by Mark Protosevich (I Am Legend), and a supporting cast that includes Vince Vaughn (Brawl in Cell Block 99) and Marianne Jean-Baptiste (In Fabric), The Cell is a gripping, edge-of-the-seat thriller, filled with jaw-dropping imagery that will entrance and unsettle in equal measure.

Impressive Restoration
The visual quality of the 4K is impressive despite a few flaws in the transfer that others have commented on. I contacted Arrow and received a prompt reply. Replacement discs should be sent out starting this month. I also this heard from one of the principles on the film so I have no doubt that Arrow will keep their word. The very few issues I’ve had with Arrow discs in the past were also solved in a timely manner. Besides the beautiful visuals the discs have a wealth of bonus features including commentaries from the writer, director, and cinematographer. While I give 4 stars for the film itself, its presentation would be 5 stars.Â

Missing frames/duplicate scene
Directors cut on the first disc has missing frames, there is a duplicate scene as well 15 minutes into the movie, I have contacted arrow in regards to this and they have informed me that a disc replacement programme starts in March 2025, let's see if they keep there word on this. I also think on certain scenes in the. Movie the dialogue is very low and really difficult to hear certain dialogue in scenes. This is not the first time this has happened with arrow releases. Feel like there losing there way with releases and need to up there game with checking what they release. Shame as I really like this movie but is so annoying having this in my arrow collection with this fault

Waiting for a statement from Arrow…
There’s an error in the Director’s Cut - a repeating shot during an extended scene which replaces other footage. I’m waiting for a statement from Arrow and I’m hoping for a disc-replacement-announcement. It’s a shame this happened though because besides that this is one of the most thorough releases Arrow has ever made. Certainly a lot of love for a movie that you didn’t expect to get so much Limited Edition attention and I applaud them for it. Hope they correct that one small stain.
